| MediaboardONE Reviewer's Guide |
| |
The intention of this document is
to give reviewers an overview of important features.
It contains not all features (see the manual
for this), but tries to show what makes MediaboardONE
unique and helps you to decide which
edition is best for your needs.
|
| |
| MediaboardONE helps you to manage your
assets as a freelance photographer or with your
team, publish your assets for customer review on
the web and provide an easy to use graphical interface
for daily use. The main focus of MediaboardONE is
to bring together today's open technologies
in the database market with a powerful asset management
front-end. |
| |
| MediaboardONE Client vs. Workgroup
Server |
MediaboardONE can work
with different database backends to store your
image data and annotations. This gives you a
major advantage in flexibility as MediaboardONE
can easily be integrated in existing systems,
web sites or online shops.
|
| |
| MediaboardONE Client uses
an integrated database server (IBM Cloudscape / Apache
Derby) by default. The database server is completely
invisible to the user as MediaboardONE handles everything
related to the integrated database server, but makes
searches faster and allows the image library to grow
almost indefinitely (more than 4 mio images/movies).
This makes the MediaboardONE Client the perfect solution
for stand-alone installations on any Mac. |
| |
| The MediaboardONE Client supports MySQL
and PostgreSQL as additional data storage servers.
If you are a web developer and you are already using
MySQL and PHP or PostgreSQL you can easily access
the data managed with MediaboardONE Client through
your own applications (more
Information). |
| |
| If you need access to your media data
from several Mac's at the same time and if you have
several users working together on the same assets,
the MediaboardONE Workgroup Server is the best choice.
The Workgroup Server has to be installed on a single
Mac that is working as database server.
The users can access all image data and annotations
at the same time from any Mac on your network by
installing and configuring the MediaboardONE Client
for Workgroup Server access. All features from the
stand-alone client are available with the Workgroup
Server edition, too. |
| |
| Additional modules for the Workgroup
Server enhance MediaboardONE for web browser access
(MediaboardONE Web Access, available as free extension
for Workgroup Server users) and give you the possibility
to show and sell your images/movies and other things
you created online (MediaboardONE Web Shop, available
in late 2005). |
| |
| The Workgroup Server gives you
all the advantages of a full featured database server
and allows access through third party tools to add
additional data and create reports. This means you
can extend image data with pricing and other information
you need - and even integrate the image data stored
with MediaboardONE with your regular ERP tools. |
| |
| MediaboardONE for Photographers |
MediaboardONE includes many features
that make the job of professional photographers
a little less routine work.
|
| |
| RAW formats of all common digital camera
models are handled directly by MediaboardONE. For
many formats even the non-standard makernote information
is processed. EXIF, IPTC, CC and other common metadata
formats are also imported into the MediaboardONE
database so they can be used for searches and for
review. |
| |
| MediaboardONE's Capture Panel allows
the definition of download settings to describe how
the images from cameras or memory cards should be
downloaded and processed. Images can be automatically
renamed during download, cataloged and copied (for
backup). |
| |
| The Light Table view is ideal for reviewing
and selecting images. They can be grouped in Film
Rolls and burned on CD/DVD, sent via Email or exported
in different formats (with and without watermarks
and image information, automatic image scaling). |
| |
| MediaboardONE for managing image/document
stocks |
| MediaboardONE Workgroup Server is built from ground up
for managing large stocks. You will see the true
power of MediaboardONE's database architecture if
you try to access image stocks with several 100000
assets - it's amazingly fast! |
| |
| MediaboardONE supports all common professional
metadata formats (IPTC, XMP, CC, EXIF) to make managing
your assets as easy as possible. Additionally you
can add metadata from any other source by adding
your own importer or send us a sample file and the
format definition so we can add the importer for
you. |
| |
| MediaboardONE Workgroup Server can be
accessed by an unlimited number of users at the same
time - only the power of your server system is the
limit. Even with low-profile hardware you can still
host several 10000 images and provide them for smaller
workgroups. |
| |
| MediaboardONE Web Access - a free add-on
to the Mediaboard Workgroup Server - allows you to
publish your assets for browsing on the Internet
or on a company Intranet. Web Access is optimized
for all common browsers on Windows, Linux and MacOS
X. |
