InterServices New Media today released MediaboardONE 1.4 Preview - the media cataloging and asset management application built for Mac OS X.

Mediaboard ONE enables creative professionals and power users alike to easily manage their images and movies. It keeps track of the locations of your media files (whether they are on a CD/DVD, on your internal disc or on a network server), catalogs and organizes them and provides easy ways to find them fast when you need them.

The new preview release gives an impression of the upcoming release 1.4 of MediaboardONE. The new release will include over 30 new features:

  • Search results can be saved as Smart Folders.
  • Now supports Surveillance Folders (Hot Folders) to repeatedly check MacOS X folders for changes .
  • Light Table includes features to compare images and run up to 4 movies at the same time on a split screen.
  • Keyword assignment has been greatly improved

MediaboardONE Client 1.3.5 QF 1

InterServices New Media today released a QuickFix release of MediaboardONE Client 1.3.5. The QuickFix resolves an issue with the AutoFill feature where AutoFill did not work if the user did not define any access privileges on a catalog folder.

MediaboardONE Web Access 1.3.5

InterServices New Media today announced the immediate availability of MediaboardONE Web Access 1.3.5 and an updated MediaboardONE Client 1.3.5.

MediaboardONE Web Access is an extension for MediaboardONE Workgroup Server to access all cataloged assets with your favorite web browser from any operating system (Windows, Linux, MacOS X, ...). Web Access allows you to search, browse and download assets that have been cataloged with the MediaboardONE client.

MediaboardONE Web Access 1.3.5 includes support for folders (light tables) to categorize large assets. Assets can be displayed in thumbnail and list view with several options. Web Access 1.3.5 adds the ability to define and save display options to a cookie. After restarting your web browser, the display settings are automatically set to your previous settings stored in the cookie.

Web Access is tested and approved for current releases of Internet Explorer, Firefox, Camino, Safari and many other browsers.

MediaboardONE Client 1.3.5 adds the ability to manage users and groups and set access privileges on individual folders and categories. Additionally a bug with the Auto Fill Assistant has been resolved (Cancel button did not cancel) and it includes several speed and stability improvements when working with non-standard Quicktime documents.

MediaboardONE Web Access 1.3.5 is available as free extension to the MediaboardONE Workgroup Server and MediaboardONE Client 1.3.5 is available as free update for existing users. Both can be downloaded from www.mediaboardone.com.

MediaboardONE 1.3.3 Bug Fix Release

What's new in this version

Asset Manager - Rating
Assets can now be rated. Additionally search and sorting has been adopted to reflect the rating. This allows photographers to faster search for their outstanding images. Rating can be added by CTRL-clicking a thumbnail via the Rating submenu.

Asset Manager - Search
Search options have been enhanced and resorted so it is easier to find the correct search key.

Asset Manager - Catalogs & Surveillance Folders
The folder hierarchy for Surveillance Folders has been changed so they can be grouped in Light Tables (Folders) for easier management.

Bug Fixes
Search via CMD-F produced erroneous result sets. This has been corrected and searching works now again as expected. Searching now also works for selected Light Tables (Folders) with all subfolders and contained Image Rolls.

What's new in this version

Asset Manager - Light Tables
The Asset Manager's catalog view can manage an unlimited number of Light Tables (folders) to organize your assets. The limitation on the number of sub-folders has been removed.

Asset Manager - Surveillance Folders
With Surveillance Folders you can add Finder folders to MediaboardONE and rescan the folders for changes. With File -> New Surveillance Folders... a Finder folder can be added to MediaboardONE. To rescan the folder for any changes select the Surveillance Folder in MediaboardONE and choose Asset -> Surveillance Folders -> Scan for Changes.

Asset Manager - Relink Media Files
If you have moved a file or folder on your disc that has already been cataloged with MediaboardONE you can tell MediaboardONE about the new file location by selecting the moved file(s) and choosing Asset -> Re-Link Media File...

Asset Manager - Reimport Media Files
To update the cataloged files (recreated thumbnails and reread modification dates) select the modified assets and choose Asset -> Re-Import Media File.

Asset Manager - View multiple Film Rolls at once
To view the content of all Film Rolls contained in a Light Table (Folder) at once you can activate View -> Light Table Options -> Show Thumbnails. After activation all thumbnails from the film rolls directly contained in the selected Light Table (Folder) will be displayed. Film Rolls contained in subfolders will not be displayed.

Asset Manager - Auto Fill
The Auto Fill feature to update keywords, annotations, etc for multiple files at once can now also be accessed through the Asset Manager's toolbar.

Asset Manager - Sorting
Sorting is now done based on time and date instead of only date as before.

Asset Manager - PDF Support
PDF documents now open with the creator application by default. New thumbnail types have been added to show PDF documents (see Preferences - Thumbnail Size and Type).

Asset Manager - Printing
A new print options dialog has been added to choose different contact sheet layouts for printing. Print Selection Only has been added to the print dialog.

Media Viewer
The Media Viewer interface for movies has been updated and has a new controller that displays the played time and the remaining time.

Preferences - Thumbnail Size and Type
The size for each thumbnail can now be defined by the user based on the document type (Image / Movie / PDF). Additional thumbnail types for PDF documents have been added (first page, first and second page, first/second and last two pages).

Preferences - RAW Quick Open
To open RAW files much faster you can choose that Media Viewers load the image at 1/4 of the original resolution on double-click for preview (loads as quick as a JPEG image). If you need full resolution click the Full Resolution icon in the toolbar and the remaining image data will be loaded.

Bug Fixes
Bugs with malformed JPEG and RAW files that caused MediaboardONE to crash on import have been fixed. PDF files can now be opened correctly by double-clicking the thumbnail. Files larger than 4GB are no longer ignored.

Mediaboard ONE creates intelligent thumbnails for every image or movie cataloged. You can add comments, keywords, license and model/property release information. The new Autofill feature makes this task fast and easy to use. Useful data, like EXIF and IPTC information, is automatically extracted from the media files and added to the catalog.

The digital light table resembles the workflow of a professional Photographer or Media Asset Manager on screen. Mediaboard ONE additionally includes an enhanced image and movie viewer to display your files. The movie viewer even works in full-screen mode and supports different display modes (16:9, 4:3, full screen-zoom). The context-menu additionally shows all installed applications that support the selected media for displaying and editing.

MediaboardONE easily captures and catalogs your images from digital cameras and memory cards.
The new image capture module includes professional features, like auto-backup and auto-renaming of images. The capture module can also set the creator application for your images to your preferred graphics editor.

For post-processing images a MacOS X Core Image based adjustment dialog can be used to resize, colorize, adjust, scale and enhance images.

Mediaboard ONE is workgroup-ready. The media database can either be stored locally or on a network server to be accessed by an unlimited number of users. The database core of Mediaboard ONE is SQL based and supports Apache Derby as local database and MySQL and PostgreSQL as network server.

What's new in this version

MediaboardONE 1.3 brings many enhancements to the Asset Manager. You can now choose from 4 different thumbnail layouts, resize your thumbnails in real-time and sort/filter the displayed media set in real-time. To manage your images more easily the Catalog is now displayed with large icons (can be customized) and you can display the number of assets in each category.

The new image capture module is built for professional photographers: while downloading images from digital cameras and memory cards the image capture module can automatically create backup copies, rename image files, set the default creator application and add the images to a MediaboardONE catalog. All download settings can be saved as presets.

For users migrating from Cumulus we are now providing a new Cumulus importer that can load your Cumulus catalogs with all the annotations, keywords and categories you have already created.

Additionally Mediaboard ONE 1.3 includes a large number of minor enhancements and bug fixes. Among the most important are:

- Support for Photoshop (PSD) files with multiple layers
- Double-Click behavior can be customized
- Major speed improvements for imports (especially of RAW files)
- Manual rotation for thumbnails
- Support for additional RAW formats (i.e. ORF)
- Film Rolls, Light Tables and Image Sets can now be deleted with the DEL key
- Enhanced diagnose features to resolve connection problems to the server
- Auto-Reconnect to the server
